Hillary Samson and family (Markus, Rebecca and Annie) are selling the house, ditching the furniture, packing up and moving to Innsbruck, Austria. Markus is trying to renovate and run his father’s downtown hotel (The Hotel). If it all works out, Hillary and co. will be there for 3 to 5 years. If not, we’ll spend the year in Europe traveling, eating and entertaining visitors.
Yeah, so I thought I’d leave my original “About” info (why is it in the third person??) up for posterity’s sake. And as a reminder that nothing in my life ever, ever goes as planned. But that isn’t always a bad thing.
We are now rounding the corner to our second year in Innsbruck, Austria. The hotel is closed, as in the end we were unable to come to an agreement with the building’s owner. Markus has just opened a Testa Rossa Cafe, and I’m slowly starting to untangle the insane German language. (For example, there are 16 ways to say the word “the” in German. People, is that really necessary?) Rebecca is back in Canada finishing her last years of high school, and Annie is pretty much having the time of her life every day. That is one happy kid.
Hope you enjoy following the journey with me.
